“Suite for Modigliani” is the new album by Matteo Pastorino Quartet inspired by the art and life of Amedeo Modigliani, a charismatic painter and sculptor of the past century. Pastorino, Italian clarinetist living in Paris, author of all the compositions proposes a course that encourages dream and travel, while being delicate and dreamlike, showing an undeniable originality.
Released in November 2017 at Challenge Records, this new project is inspired by the key episodes of the life of the painter as well as the fundamental elements of his creative process: his admiration for primitive African art, the inner eye and his concept of pure beauty and abstract. The Matteo Pastorino Quartet has the desire to reveal the visual and narrative sonorities of these paintings and to communicate this incursion in a troubled and fascinating intimacy. Special guest on record, guitarist Gilad Hekselman.
